To enrich employees' leisure life, enliven the work atmosphere, and integrate corporate culture into “sight, mind, heart, and action,” Fuqing Wood Industry will, for the first time, use a debate competition to promote corporate culture construction. On December 4, Fuqing Wood Industry held a debate competition with the topic “To Build a First-Class Enterprise, Is Innovation More Important or Is Inheriting Tradition More Important?”
According to the competition rules, the roles of the debating teams were decided on the spot, which undoubtedly increased the difficulty of the competition. However, both teams were well-prepared and confident. Before the competition began, the team leaders drew lots on stage, witnessed by the audience, and were divided into the “Innovation” team and the “Inheriting Tradition” team. Following this, amid enthusiastic applause from the audience, both debate teams officially took the stage and made brief but powerful introductions, immediately engaging in a battle of momentum.
In the opening statement phase, the affirmative side centered on the primary driving role of employee practice, clearly and rigorously expounding the viewpoint that “innovation is essential for better promoting enterprise development.” The opposing side, on the other hand, emphasized the guiding role of the advantages of inheriting tradition, stating their viewpoint that “inheriting tradition is more important for building a first-class enterprise.”
The competition proceeded through four stages: opening statements, rebuttals, audience questions, and judges’ scoring. During the competition, the debaters cited various sources and delivered witty remarks, thoroughly demonstrating their viewpoints by combining theory with reality. Both sides engaged in a fierce and relentless battle, creating a highly charged atmosphere.
In the audience interaction segment, several audience members eagerly raised their hands and posed sharp questions to the debaters, almost bringing the debate from the stage to the floor. The debaters on stage responded skillfully and eloquently, engaging in lively discussions. This interaction thrilled everyone and pushed the competition to another climax.
Next, the judges highly praised the debaters for their meticulous thinking, quick responses, and composed stage presence, providing insightful comments.
Under the objective and fair judgment of the on-site judges, the debate competition results were finally revealed, with the opposing “Inheriting Tradition” team narrowly winning the competition. After the competition, members of both debate teams expressed that the outcome was not important; what mattered was the deepened understanding of building a first-class company through the process of debate. They collectively gained new perspectives and mutual understanding.
In the final summary speech, General Manager Zhang Kai addressed everyone.
"Inheriting is not about rigidly adhering to old ways but about making reasonable choices. Innovation is not about abandoning tradition but about enhancing the reasonable aspects of existing things. Correctly handling the relationship between 'inheriting' and 'innovation' should be based on 'inheriting' and focused on 'innovation,' organically unifying critical inheritance and development innovation.
The world is currently undergoing a new industrial revolution, and innovation is a necessary requirement for the current business environment. Based on inheritance, using innovation as the engine, we can achieve high-quality enterprise development. By implementing measures such as technological improvements, research and promotion of new processes, and scientific and technological breakthroughs, we can reduce production costs, improve production efficiency, diversify product structures, lower unit energy consumption, and enhance product quality. Healthy and rapid development based on innovation will create greater value for the enterprise!"
