On November 4, Jiangsu Fuqing Wood Industry conducted a video training session titled “Insights from Overcoming Life’s Low Points” to discuss how to maintain belief and firm goals in a challenging environment. The session aimed to mobilize and encourage the Fuqing family to uphold a spirit of perseverance and belief, never giving up in work and life, and to forge ahead with determination!

The training session featured a lecture by Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi Technology and chairman of Kingsoft, as the main speaker.

Lei Jun shared multiple instances of setbacks and confusion in his life and provided insights on overcoming life’s low points. He recounted three stories: the failure of WPS and Pangu Software in the 1990s, his period of confusion and obsession with BBS, and meeting Ding Lei, the founder of NetEase. At that time, Lei Jun offered 10 million yuan to acquire NetEase, but Ding Lei refused. Two months later, NetEase raised over 10 million USD, with a valuation exceeding 500 million yuan. The third story was about Lei Jun’s e-commerce era. After failing to acquire NetEase, Lei Jun decided to venture into e-commerce himself. In May 2000, Joyo.com was officially launched, entering the e-commerce sector. However, due to a poor capital market environment, they couldn’t raise funds and eventually had to sell to Amazon.


In his concluding remarks, Lei Jun stated: “All the setbacks, failures, and seemingly meaningless time-wasting experiences you go through will become your most valuable assets.”

Conversely, customer needs should not constantly drive us to the point where R&D is overwhelmed and unable to consider product improvements. Therefore, we need to continuously improve by leveraging advanced technologies under the constant guidance of customer needs.


Product development must be close to customers, not done behind closed doors. To understand customer needs, R&D personnel should frequently interact with customers and market personnel. Otherwise, time and effort may be wasted, and the direction may be incorrect. Additionally, researching customer needs should involve utilizing external resources through open cooperation.
